Redshirt senior Michaela Rich and sophomore Carly White of Liberty women's lacrosse have been selected to the Big South All-Tournament team, following the conclusion of the 2018 Women's Lacrosse Championship on Sunday.
Rich is being named to the all-tournament team for the first time in her Liberty career. The attacker recorded three goals in Friday night's semifinal contest against Winthrop, the fifth time she scored three or more goals in a game this season.
Rich, who hails from Monrovia, Md., had her best season as a Lady Flame in 2018, finishing with career highs in goals (37), assists (15), points (52), shots on goal (62), ground balls (18) and caused turnovers (8) in 18 games.
White, a native of Marietta, Ga., is also being honored on the championship all-tournament squad for the first time in her Lady Flames career. The midfielder scored three goals against Winthrop and added an assist, six draw controls, six shots on goal, one caused turnover and one ground ball. White and Rich both scored two of their three goals in the first half for Liberty.
White, who was also a first team all-conference selection for the second straight season, closed the year with a career-high 28 goals, 14 assists, 42 points, 62 draw controls, 45 ground balls, 21 caused turnovers and 49 shots on goal in 18 contests.
No. 1 seed and tournament host High Pont topped No. 3 Winthrop, 18-7, in the championship game on Sunday for its fourth lacrosse championship in program history and second in a row.
The Lady Flames lacrosse team won a program-record 13 games in 2018 while only suffering five losses.
