Almborg will be joining the Lady Flames beginning in the fall.
Liberty Women's Tennis Head Coach Jeff Maren has announced the addition of Alexandra Almborg for the 2018-19 school year.
"Alexandra impressed us from the very beginning with her warm personality, her ambition and her desire to do everything possible to maximize her gifts," Maren said. "She is an outstanding tennis player and a wonderful person who will integrate perfectly into our tennis family. We can't wait to have her join us this fall!"
Almborg, who hails from Staffanstorp, Sweden, has achieved as high as a 10.12 UTR rating (2017). She has been one of the top-ranked junior players in Sweden since age 13, winning many Swedish national tournaments in the process.
"I chose Liberty for its Christian values, team goals and high academics. While on my visit, I really felt like I belonged to the team and university," Almborg stated. "I also witnessed amazing professionalism from the players, coaches and entire athletics staff. It was incredible, and I knew I wanted to be a part of a program like this."
Almborg has been as high as No. 2 in the Swedish national rankings while winning three gold medals at the Swedish Team National Championships. She also was a quarterfinalist at the ITF Nottingham tournament and the ITF Copenhagen tournament.
"I'm thankful for my parents' support during all the years, getting me to where I am today," Almborg added. "I'm looking forward to playing for future victories with my new team and being part of the Liberty family. Go Flames!"
