Liberty is the No. 2 seed for the upcoming 2018 Big South Women's Lacrosse Championship.

After its best regular season and conference performance in program history, Liberty women's lacrosse (13-4, 6-1 Big South) has earned the No. 2 seed for the upcoming 2018 Big South Women's Lacrosse Championship.

The Lady Flames, who were picked to finish fourth in the Big South Conference Preseason poll, finished 6-1 in the league, their best record ever in conference play. Liberty will receive its first-ever bye in the championship thanks to the highest tournament seed in program history.

The second-seeded Lady Flames will await the winner of the clash between No. 3 Winthrop (12-5, 5-2 BSC) and No. 6 Longwood (7-10, 2-5 BSC), which will be played next Saturday at 1 p.m. in Rock Hill, S.C. Liberty defeated both teams in the regular season. The Lady Flames bested Winthrop, 12-11, on Senior Day, last Saturday, and topped Longwood, 22-7, on April 11.

Liberty's semifinal contest versus either No. 3 Winthrop or No. 6 Longwood will be played at High Point on May 4 at 7 p.m. and will be aired live on the Big South Network. Should Liberty advance to the championship game, the Lady Flames will compete at High Point on May 6 at noon on ESPN3.

No. 18/19 High Point (14-2, 7-0 Big South), the defending conference champion, finished unbeaten in Big South play to earn the No. 1 seed in the tournament. Campbell (8-9, 4-3 BSC) drew the No. 4 seed, while Radford (6-10, 3-4 BSC) is the No. 5 seed for the championship. Gardner-Webb (1-6 Big South) and Presbyterian (0-7 Big South) did not qualify for postseason competition.

The Big South champion will receive an automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship.
