Foster scored six times, a career high, on Saturday at Campbell.

Liberty junior attacker Kayla Foster's career-high six goals and a 5-0 run to close the game lifted Liberty to a 13-9 triumph in its regular-season finale at Campbell on Saturday afternoon at Barker-Lane Stadium.

Foster, who came into the contest with 15 assists over her previous three contests, displayed her scoring ability with the six-goal effort, including four goals in the Lady Flames' 5-0 run over the final 10:17 to put the game away.

Liberty wraps up its most successful regular season in program history with a 13-4 overall record and its best record in Big South regular-season play at 6-1. With the win, the Lady Flames have locked up the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye for the upcoming 2018 Big South Women's Lacrosse Championship. A seeding release and full details for the championship will come out later today.

Campbell sees its regular season end at 8-9 overall and 4-3 in the conference. The Lady Flames avenged a 12-11 overtime loss to the Camels, last year, in Lynchburg, with the victory.

"This was another great win for our girls. Campbell is a good team, who plays hard for 60 minutes. I'm proud of how composed we were down the stretch," stated Lady Flames Head Coach Kelly Nangle. "We had some big possessions at the end of the game that led to us sealing the win. We have a lot of girls stepping up at different times, which is what makes us such a complete team. We are looking forward to getting back to work and preparing for the postseason!"

Liberty received two-goal efforts from Michaela Rich and Brianna McCaffrey, while Mackenzie Koeller paced Campbell with six goals. The game was tight throughout, featuring seven lead changes and eight ties on the afternoon.

The host Camels took a 9-8 lead with 12:42 remaining following a goal from Koeller. Koeller had a personal 3-0 run with Campbell trailing, 8-6, with her final goal making it 9-8, Camels, with less than 13 minutes on the clock.

However, Foster tied the game at 9-9 with 10:17 left on a turnaround shot from the right side from a tough angle. Just over a minute later, Foster drew a foul and a free-position opportunity. Foster carved through the defense and ripped a shot into the left side of the net, past Campbell goalkeeper Sydney Etheridge. With that goal, Liberty led, 10-9, with 8:31 on the clock and never relinquished the advantage.

Foster again delivered another pretty goal at the 4:45 mark. She made her way around the left side of the cage, and, after she was fouled (Julia Markey, yellow card), fired another shot into the goal.

Leading 11-9 with under five minutes left, the Lady Flames eventually found themselves in a two-man-up situation following a green card from Campbell's Rose Prizzi at the 3:54 mark. Liberty made the most of the chance, as Rich scored on a feed from Foster with 3:16 left, making it 12-9, Liberty.

Foster scored another impressive marker, a turnaround shot, with 1:51 remaining for her sixth goal of the day and Liberty's 13th and final goal of the contest, which made it 13-9. The junior from Sewickley, Pa., finished the regular season as Liberty's points leader with 62 in 17 games and is second in program history with 178 points in three seasons.

The Lady Flames' Katherine Widrick earned her second straight start in goal for the visitors. Widrick made eight saves against just nine goals allowed in improving to 6-1 on the year. The Liberty defense held 11 of its 17 opponents under 10 goals in the regular season. Etheridge made 11 saves for Campbell in 60 minutes of action, but it was not enough, as she fell to 7-5 on the season.

In a back-and-forth opening half, Liberty led, 7-6, after 30 minutes. The first half featured six ties. The Lady Flames trailed, 6-5, with 4:53 to play in the half following a Melissa Placek (three goals) tally. However, Emily Browne (free-position shot) and Foster (unassisted) sent the Lady Flames into halftime with a 7-6 edge with goals at the 1:54 and 1:16 mark.

Liberty outshot Campbell, 30-22, in the game and also held advantages in ground balls (23-17) and caused turnovers (14-13). Campbell won 14 draw controls, led by Sam Carey's seven, compared to 10 (Foster and Carly White, four each) for the Lady Flames.

Liberty made the most of its free-position shots, going 5-of-7 on the day. Campbell was just 2-of-9.

The Lady Flames will take a four-game winning streak into postseason play. Stay tuned to LibertyFlames.com later tonight for a 2018 Big South Women's Lacrosse Championship seeding release.
