Liberty Field Hockey Program Honored in NFHCA Academic Awards

The Liberty field hockey team was recently recognized in the Zag Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Academic Awards.

The Lady Flames received the 2017 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I Academic Team Award for having a team GPA of 3.0 or greater. Liberty, which had a 3.50 GPA as a team, was one of 75 Division I programs to earn the distinction and has now received the honor in each of the program's first seven years.

In addition, 20 Liberty field hockey student-athletes garnered inclusion on the Division I National Academic Squad for earning a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2017-18 academic year (see list below). Liberty was one of five Division I teams in the nation to have 20 or more players named to the squad.

Three players – freshman Carolyn Haase, sophomore Annika Roberts and freshman Alexis Paone – were honored as Division I Scholars of Distinction for achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher.
