Hashiguchi is the Big South Women's Tennis Freshman of the Week for the first time in her Liberty career.
Liberty's Grace Hashiguchi has been named the Big South Women's Tennis Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon.
The honor is the first of Hashiguchi's Liberty career, and she is the second Lady Flame to be named freshman of the week, this season (Polina Miroshnichenko, Feb. 14).
Hashiguchi posted a 2-0 mark in doubles last week in Big South road victories at Charleston Southern and Presbyterian. On Saturday at CSU, Hashiguchi teamed with Rebekah Anderson to clinch the doubles point for the Lady Flames with a 6-3 win on court three over the Bucs' Yana Morar and Kimberly Koerner.
Hashiguchi and Anderson sealed the doubles point once again on Sunday, as the duo bested PC's Beth Taylor and Brittany Nuttall, 6-3. Hashiguchi and Anderson (8-2) have the best doubles record for the Lady Flames and are tied for the fourth-best doubles winning percentage (.800) in the Big South.
Hashiguchi and Liberty (9-7, 3-0 Big South) are back in action on Friday afternoon, when they host UNC Asheville (9-6, 2-2 Big South) at the Cook Tennis Center at 2 p.m.
