Liberty freshman Payton Keiner earned invitation to the 2018 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships with a conference and program-record 200 backstroke swim on Sunday at the Liberty Last Chance Meet.
Keiner solidified her spot at the 2018 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, lowering her own program record from 1:54.14 to 1:53.29 by the end of the day. She is under the projected last invited time in the event.
She joins Alicia Finnigan (200 fly), who earned her spot at nationals yesterday with a program and conference-record 1:55.33.
Sunday also saw freshman Lindsey Cohee swim a lifetime-best, NCAA B cut 1:57.76 in the 200 fly. That time sits third on the program's all-time top 10 list in the event. Cohee has earned a qualifying standard for the 2018 Phillips 66 Nationals, to be held July 25-29 in Irvine, Calif. Finnigan clocked 1:55.80 in prelims of the 200 fly on Sunday.
Brittany Weiss swam a B cut 53.61 in the 100 back today.
In the 200 breaststroke, Hannah Baker turned in a time of 2:18.66, which is sixth in program history in the event. Kiah Francis swam 2:19.21.
Selections for the 2018 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming & Diving Championships will be announced at 5 p.m. next Wednesday. Finnigan and Keiner are expected to see their names officially listed among those invited to nationals. The NCAA Championships will take place March 14-17 in Columbus, Ohio.
