Liberty Defeats UC Davis, 4-1

Kaitlin McFarland had a two-run single on Friday against UC Davis.

The Liberty softball team earned a 4-1 win over UC Davis on Friday at Big League Dreams.

Liberty improves to 10-2 on the season with the win, while UC Davis is now 7-6.

For the game, Liberty outhit UC Davis, 8-4, while the Aggies registered one error.

Julia DiMartino (6-1) earned the win, allowing one run on four hits, striking out eight and walking one in seven innings.

UC Davis' Brooke Yanez (5-2) gave up four runs on eight hits, fanning seven and walking six.

Sarah Robertson went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Autumn Bishop batted 2-for-4, while Kaitlin McFarland hit 1-for-4 with two RBI.

For UC Davis, Riley Siegel batted 2-for-3 with a homer, one run scored and one RBI.

Liberty struck first, scoring twice in the second inning. Alexia Taylor drew a leadoff walk and Jaclyn Amader bunted for a base hit. Robertson the sacrificed the runners ahead to second and third before McFarland sliced a two-run single to right. Yanez struck out the next two batters, keeping the score at 2-0

UC Davis got on the board with one out in the bottom of the second on Siegel's solo homer to left.

Amber Bishop led off the third with a single and Taylor hit a one-out double. With two outs, Robertson doubled to left field, plating Bishop and Taylor for a 4-1 advantage.

Autumn Bishop doubled with one out in the top of the fourth and went to third on a wild pitch. Yanez got out of danger, getting two straight outs.

The Lady Flames left two runners on base to end the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

DiMartino retired seven straight batters, from the fourth through sixth innings. Isabella Leon drew a two-out walk in the sixth. Ashley Lotoszynski lined one into the corner that Madison Via chase down for the third out.

UC Davis brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh after singles by Siegel and Aly Gomonet. DiMartino then struck out Meghan Bradbury to end the game.
