On the strength of exceptional efforts at the Liberty Elite Invitational, the Flames and Lady Flames earned three Big South Conference weekly honors on Wednesday. Sophomore Tanner Ealum was named Big South Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, senior Dasiana Larson was tabbed Big South Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week and senior Carson Waters earned the Big South Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week honor.

Ten different Liberty athletes have now garnered Big South Conference weekly awards during the indoor track & field team's first four weeks of competition in the 2017-18 season.

Ealum, a native of Anchorage, Alaska, wins her first award of the year and the fourth of her career. She won both of her events (women's 500 and 4 x 400 relay) in record-setting fashion on Saturday.

Ealum's winning 500 time of 1:12.95 broke Liberty, Big South and meet records and ranks No. 11 nationally this season. Jaime Watson had owned the previous Liberty and Big South standards at 1:13.98 since Jan. 30, 2010.

Ealum later joined Cortney Dowling, Kimone Green and Olivia Behymer in capturing the women's 4 x 400 relay title in a meet-record 3:45.35. Ealum sealed the victory with her 55.27-second anchor leg split.

Larson captured her second Big South honor this season and the third of the Garner, Iowa native's career. She won the women's weight throw title (personal-best 65-2.25) and placed eighth in the shot put (44-6).

Larson ranks No. 34 in the nation for the women's weight throw this season after adding more than two feet to her previous best on Saturday. She ranks No. 2 in program history and No. 6 in Big South history, while topping the 2018 Big South women's weight throw list by six and a half feet.

Waters matched his personal-best pole vault clearance of 17-0.75, placing fifth overall and second among college entrants. Now a five-time Big South Men's Field Athlete of the Week for his career, the native of St. Petersburg Beach, Fla., is tied for No. 37 nationally in the men's pole vault this season.

Ealum, Larson, Waters and most of their teammates will take this weekend off from competition in preparation for the 2018 Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships. For the first time, the meet will take place at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex, Feb. 23-24.

Meanwhile, senior Darrel Jones is slated to compete in the men's triple jump at this weekend's USATF Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. Jones' event is slated to begin at 5:05 p.m. Eastern on Sunday.
