Carrington Mosley was one of Liberty's five VaSID All-State honorees, earning first-team honors after leading the Flames in rushing in 2017.
Liberty placed five players on the 2017 VaSID University Division All-State football team, which was announced earlier today by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID).
The Flames' five all-state honorees is Liberty's highest all-state selection total since the 2014 season. Liberty placed 11 players on the all-state football team in 2014, following its first-ever NCAA FCS Playoff appearance.
Running back Carrington Mosley, offensive lineman Dontae Duff and long snapper Hunter Winstead were named to the VaSID all-state first team. Liberty's all-state second-team honorees included wide receiver Antonio Gandy-Golden and defensive lineman Juwan Wells.
Liberty had the fourth-highest selection total on this year's all-state team. Virginia led the Commonwealth with 16 all-state honorees, followed by 14 selections from James Madison, seven for Virginia Tech, four from Richmond and Old Dominion, two for William & Mary and one from Norfolk State.
Mosley was an All-Big South second-team honoree after starting 10 of 11 games during his senior year. The Brookneal, Va., native led the Flames and ranked third in the Big South in rushing touchdowns (9) and fifth in rushing yards (896).
Duff is making his second-straight appearance on the all-state team, after earning second-team honors in 2016. The native of Mesquite, Texas, started all 11 games at right guard for the Flames. The sophomore graded out at 93 percent and finished the year with 79 knockdowns and one sack allowed.
Winstead was garnered inclusion on the all-state team after earning STATS FCS and Hero Sports second-team All-America honors. The All-Big South first-team honoree, who hails from Raleigh, N.C., started 47 career games at Liberty. The redshirt senior did not record a bad snap during his last three seasons.
Gandy-Golden joined Winstead on the All-Big South first team after leading the conference in receiving yards (1,066) and finishing tied for first in touchdown receptions (10). The native of Dallas, Ga., had six 100-yard receiving games, and the sophomore would have ranked No. 9 in the country in receiving yards per game (106.6) if Liberty's players were eligible to be ranked in the national statistics.
Wells is making a repeat showing on the all-state team, after the redshirt junior took home first-team honors in 2016. The native of Dublin, Ga., ranked No. 1 in the Big South in tackles by defensive linemen (6.7 per game), fifth overall in the Big South in both tackles for a loss (11.0) and sacks (4.5).
