Coghill will join Liberty starting in the 2018-19 academic year.

The Liberty women's lacrosse team has announced the addition of Mikayla Coghill for the 2018-19 season.

Hailing from Fredericksburg, Va., Coghill is the second Commonwealth native to join the Lady Flames in their 2018-19 recruiting class, joining Morgan Learn (Goode, Va.).

"I am extremely excited to be signing with Liberty. The team has such an amazing and encouraging atmosphere, and I love the personalities of the coaches," Coghill said. "I'm blessed to be given this opportunity to play with such talented people and be furthering my education at Liberty University!"

Coghill is entering her senior season this spring at Mountain View High School and will be a team captain and finish her career as a four-year varsity player. Over the past two seasons on the Mountain View Wildcats varsity team, she has compiled 101 goals while guiding her team to a 23-12 overall record.

In her first three seasons with the Wildcats, Coghill is a three-time first team all-conference selection. Additionally, she garnered first team all-area distinction as a sophomore and second team all-region accolades as a junior.

A midfielder/attacker who also plays at the club level for Storm Elite 2018 Lacrosse, Coghill committed to Liberty over Virginia Wesleyan, West Virginia Wesleyan, UVa-Wise, Harvard and Brown.

"Mikayla has played an instrumental role in the success of the MVHS girls lacrosse program. She sets the bar very high for herself and is a true pleasure to coach," stated Mountain View High School lacrosse head coach Meg Desmond. "Quiet by nature, Mikayla is quick and relentless on the field, demonstrating terrific ball-handling and shot placement, along with a picture-perfect defense. I couldn't be prouder of her or more excited that she will be continuing her lacrosse journey at Liberty University!"
