White and Foster were voted to the Big South Women's Lacrosse Preseason All-Conference team by the league's coaches.
Liberty's Kayla Foster and Carly White garnered inclusion on the Big South Women's Lacrosse Preseason All-Conference team, while the Lady Flames are tabbed to finish fourth in the league, as released by the conference office on Tuesday.
Foster and White are the last two Big South Women's Lacrosse Freshman of the Year recipients. Foster received the award in 2016, while White earned top freshman honors in 2017.
"I'm excited for Carly and Kayla to be recognized for the impact they have had on our team and in conference play," head coach Kelly Nangle stated. "They are two of the hardest working girls on our team, and it is nice to see them get the recognition they deserve."
A two-time Big South All-Conference selection, Foster enters her junior year fifth in program history with 116 points. In 2017, the Sewickley, Pa., native added to her resume with a 32-goal, 33-assist, 65-point season. She also broke the school single-game record for assists (8) and points (11) in a win at Gardner-Webb (April 12, 2017).
White, who hails from Marietta, Ga., finished in the top three on the team in several offensive categories, including goals (25), assists (18), points (43), ground balls (40), caused turnovers (26) and free-position goals (5). In addition to being named Big South Freshman of the Year, she was also a Big South All-Conference first team honoree and made the Inside Women's Lacrosse All-Rookie team.
Meanwhile, Liberty is picked to finish No. 4 in the conference, as voted on by the league's head coaches. The Lady Flames have now been selected to finish fourth in the conference for four straight seasons. Liberty has matched or exceeded those expectations two of the last three seasons (Big South Championship runner-up, 2015, and fourth in 2017).
Liberty garnered one second-place vote, three fourth-place votes and four five-place votes in the process for 38 points.
Defending Big South champion High Point (63 points) collected seven first-place votes in being selected to finish first in the league. Last spring, the Panthers became the first team in Big South history to win a game in the NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship. Two-time Big South champion (2015, 2016) Winthrop (one first-place vote) and Campbell each finished the voting process with 51 points to tie for second place.
Following Liberty in the No. 4 slot are Radford (No. 5, 32 points), Longwood (No. 6, 26 points), Presbyterian (No. 7, 15 points) and Gardner-Webb (No. 8, 12 points).
Liberty Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Kelly Nangle's squad is comprised of 26 players – three seniors, eight juniors, seven sophomores and eight freshmen. Senior Lindsey McNamara, redshirt senior Michaela Rich and redshirt junior Faith Wells will serve as team captains for the Lady Flames in 2018.
Liberty will open its spring schedule at Mercer on Feb. 10. The Lady Flames' home opener is on Feb. 25 against Robert Morris. Their Big South opener against Presbyterian will take place on March 31 at the Liberty Lacrosse Field.
The 2018 Big South Women's Lacrosse Championship will be held on April 28, May 4 and May 6.
