Prudence Rooker was named CCSA Women's Swimmer of the Week for the second week in a row, Tuesday.
Liberty senior Prudence Rooker was named CCSA Women's Swimmer of the Week for the second week in a row after a fantastic meet at Marshall on Saturday.
Rooker is the first swimmer in program history to be named CCSA Swimmer of the Week in back-to-back weeks. This is her third career CCSA Swimmer of the Week honor, as she was named Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 4, 2014. Teammate Amy Schools has twice been named CCSA Diver of the Week, Oct. 10 and Dec. 5. Rooker's award is the 24th weekly CCSA honor for the Liberty swimming & diving team in program history, including six Diver of the Week mentions and 18 Swimmer of the Week awards.
A native of Forest Grove, Ore., Rooker has been on a roll of late, winning each of her last nine individual events in a row. She posted three individual-event wins at Marshall on Saturday and also swam on the winning 200 medley relay. All three of her individual swims (100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke and 200 IM) were the fastest times by a Liberty swimmer this season in that particular event. She won the 200 breaststroke by nearly four seconds, swimming 2:18.91 to break 2:20 for the first time this season. Rooker claimed the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.99, nearly two seconds faster than second place. She swam a season-best 2:06.06 to win the 200 IM.
Liberty (9-2, 5-0 CCSA) hosts a tri-meet with VMI and George Mason, Friday and Saturday. Friday's action will begin with the Liberty Natatorium Grand Opening ceremony at 5:45 p.m., and swimming & diving events start at approximately 6:15 p.m. Saturday will feature an alumnae reunion and senior day ceremonies, with action in the pool starting at 11 a.m.
