Hannah Baker won two individual events and was on both winning relays, Saturday.
Liberty swept a tri-meet from Marshall and UNC Asheville on Saturday at Liberty Natatorium, sealing the win over Marshall in the meet's final event.
The Lady Flames downed Marshall, 160-140, while posting a 210-84 win over UNC Asheville. The Thundering Herd beat UNC Asheville head-to-head, 222-72. Saturday's meet drew 224 spectators to the Liberty Natatorium.
With the wins, Liberty improved its record to 8-2, including a perfect 5-0 against CCSA teams. UNC Asheville falls to 1-5, including 1-3 in CCSA dual meets, while Marshall is now 3-4 overall.
For the meet, Liberty won eight individual swimming events and both relay races, while Marshall posted four swimming event wins while winning both diving events.
The meet saw Liberty post two team season-best times, in the 200 free (Hannah Baker – 1:52.60) and 200 breaststroke (Prudence Rooker – 2:20.37). Baker and Rooker recorded two individual-event victories each.
Liberty took first and second in the meet-opening 200 medley relay. The quartet of Danielle Boothe, Rooker, Lindsey Cohee and Baker won in 1:45.36.
Marshall took first and second in the 1000 freestyle, led by Anna Lynch's 10:17.70. Ashlee Sall (10:46.57) was Liberty's top finisher, in fifth place.
Baker earned her first victory of the day, swimming 1:52.60 to claim the 200 free. Her 1:52.60 is the fastest 200 free by a Liberty swimmer so far this season.
Liberty went 1-2 in the 100 backstroke, as Brittany Weiss made a late surge to win in 56.66. Payton Keiner placed second with a 57.00 showing.
Rooker out-touched Marshall's Catherie Bendziewicz at the wall in the 100 breaststroke, winning in 1:04.45 to Bendziewicz‘s 1:04.51. Ricki Lee Hodges took third at 1:05.53.
Alicia Finnigan took first in the 200 fly, swimming 2:03.29, while teammate Lindsey Cohee touched second in 2:04.25.
Baker won the 50 free by .01 over teammate Rachel Hoeve, winning in a season-best 23.60 while Hoeve followed in 23.61. Colleen Donlin swam 23.76, good for third place in the event.
Jenna Joyal finished third in one-meter diving with a 206.11 score, while Amy Schools took fourth place with 196.05 points.
Bendziewicz claimed the 100 freestyle victory in 51.51, followed in second and third by Liberty's Pond (51.84) and Weiss (52.36).
Keiner led the 200 backstroke from start to finish, claiming the race in 2:04.68.
Rooker swam Liberty's fastest 200 breaststroke so far this season, 2:20.37, to beat Marshall's Bendziewicz by 0.27 seconds.
Lynch won the 500 free for Marshall in 5:01.52. Emily Manly placed eighth for Liberty in 5:11.08.
Mauzy turned in a season-best 56.64 to win the 100 fly, while Finnigan finished second in 57.19.
Schools scored 184.35 points in three-meter diving, good for fourth in the event.
Emma Lockyer of Marshall (4:26.87) won the 400 IM, while Lindsey Cohee placed fifth in 4:39.14.
The Lady Flames cemented their victory over Marshall with a 1-2 showing in the final event of the day, the 400 freestyle relay. Pond, Finnigan, Rooker and Baker combined for a winning time of 3:28.27.
Liberty will next compete at Marshall, next Saturday at 11 a.m. at Fredrick A. Fitch Natatorium.
