During her return visit to Liberty's campus back in the fall of 2017, Liberty alumna Sam Ponder took time to visit with LFSN Game On reporter Matt Warner for today's video feature.
Ponder, a 2009 graduate of Liberty, started her career in sportscasting as a sideline reporter for the Liberty Flames Sports Network and rose quickly through the sports media ranks, working for the Longhorn Network, FOX Sports Net, and then ESPN's College GameDay.
Last March, Ponder was selected to replace sports broadcasting legend Chris Berman as the host of ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown show.
Prior to her current position with ESPN, the Phoenix, Ariz., native, was among the network's top college football reporters. She has been a contributor to "College GameDay" since 2012. Ponder also reported for ABC Saturday Night Football last year. She has been with ESPN since 2011 after a stint with FOX Sports Net.
Ponder and her husband, Christian, spoke during Liberty's Convocation service during College for a Weekend on Sept. 29, 2017. Christian is a former NFL quarterback, who professional career included stints in San Francisco, Oakland, and most notably, Minnesota, where he threw for almost 3,000 yards in 2012, leading the Vikings to the playoffs.
