Liberty Athletics Top Moments of 2017: No. 3

As the calendar winds down to the final days of 2017, the Liberty Flames Sports Network is looking back at the moments that made this athletics year special for Flames Nation.

Liberty Athletics Top Moments of 2017 continues today by looking at Moment No. 3, track & field sweeping both titles at the Big South Indoor and Outdoor Track Championships.

For the second straight season, Liberty swept the men's and women's team titles at the 2017 Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships. Liberty made it a perfect 20 for 20 in winning men's team titles all-time at the Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships, but it was not easy. The Flames had to come from behind on Sunday to defeat runner-up Campbell by a 205-170 count, marking Liberty's second smallest margin of victory in meet history.

For the third year in a row, Liberty captured the men's and women's team titles at the 2017 Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Flames and Lady Flames won by a combined 240 points, taking 16 first-place finishes.

The 2017 calendar year was another banner year in Liberty Athletics. Liberty won its 13th Big South Sasser Cup title and swept the Big South Sasser Cup, Men's All-Sport and Women's All-Sport trophy awards for the fourth time in athletics department history.

LibertyFlames.com thanks Flames Nation for its support of Liberty Athletics in 2017 and we look forward to another exciting year in 2018.
