As the calendar winds down to the final days of 2017, the Liberty Flames Sports Network is looking back at the moments that made this athletics year special for Flames Nation.

Liberty Athletics Top Moments of 2017 continues today by looking at Moment No. 4, softball capturing the inaugural National Invitational Softball Championship on May 24, 2017.

The Lady Flames softball claimed their first postseason championship in program history, topping Lamar, 3-1, in a winner-take-all final game at Liberty Softball Stadium. The Lady Flames won five straight elimination games during the championship week, taking the championship trophy from a field of 26 at the beginning of the tournament.

The 2017 calendar year was another banner year in Liberty Athletics. Liberty won its 13th Big South Sasser Cup title and swept the Big South Sasser Cup, Men's All-Sport and Women's All-Sport trophy awards for the fourth time in athletics department history. thanks Flames Nation for its support of Liberty Athletics in 2017 and we look forward to another exciting year in 2018.
