Liberty Athletics Top Moments of 2017: No. 6

As the calendar winds down to the final days of 2017, the Liberty Flames Sports Network is looking back at the moments that made this athletics year special for Flames Nation.

Liberty Athletics Top Moments of 2017 continues today by looking at Moment No. 6, men's basketball advancing to the quarterfinals of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT).

The Flames posted their first 20-win season since the 2008-09 campaign, topping off a 21-14 season with a pair of wins over Norfolk State and Samford during the first round of the CIT. Liberty's best run in a Division I postseason tournament came to an end when the Flames fell to UMBC, 80-68, during a CIT quarterfinal contest in Catonsville, Md., on March 26, 2017.

The 2017 calendar year was another banner year in Liberty Athletics. Liberty won its 13th Big South Sasser Cup title and swept the Big South Sasser Cup, Men's All-Sport and Women's All-Sport trophy awards for the fourth time in athletics department history.

LibertyFlames.com thanks Flames Nation for its support of Liberty Athletics in 2017 and we look forward to another exciting year in 2018.
