All-America honors for Liberty's Hunter Winstead continue to roll in as the long snapper was named to the 2017 STATS FCS All-America team, earlier today.
Winstead was a second-team honoree on this year's STATS FCS All-America squad after being named to the STATS FCS All-America third team in 2016. Last week, Winstead was named to the 2017 Academic All-America® Division I Football second team, as presented by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Winstead started all 47 games of his four-year playing career at long snapper. He was an All-Big South honoree the last three seasons, earning second-team honors in 2015 and first-team accolades in 2016 and 2017.
The native of Raleigh, N.C., finished the last three years without a bad snap and worked with All-America kickers Alex Probert and John Lunsford and four-time All-Big South punter Trey Turner.
After graduating with a perfect 4.00 GPA as a double major in government and international business, last May, Winstead was named a Big South George A. Christenberry Award for Academic Excellence recipient.
Winstead is currently pursuing a master's degree in business administration and is maintaining a 4.00 GPA. He has been named to the Big South President Honor Roll three times and was selected to the 2016 FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team.
