The 2017 Liberty men's and women's cross country teams both earned Big South Team Sportsmanship Awards this week, as voted upon by conference student-athletes. The Lady Flames earned their first Big South Team Sportsmanship Award since 2014 and their conference-high sixth honor overall.
Meanwhile, the Flames garnered their conference-best fifth Big South Team Sportsmanship Award but first since 2010.
Liberty has now won a conference-high 66 Big South Team Sportsmanship Awards since the program was instituted in 2005-06. Head Coach Brant Tolsma's cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field squads have combined for 31 of those honors.
