Liberty field hockey sophomore Agueda Moroni has been named to the 2017 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I All-America second team, the NFHCA announced this afternoon.

Moroni is the third All-American in Liberty field hockey program history, joining Serena Barr (second team, 2016) and Natalie Barr (third team, 2015). The Lady Flames have featured an All-American in each of the past three seasons.

"Agui's accomplishment is outstanding. She truly established herself as one of the nation's finest attackers this season," said Liberty Field Hockey Head Coach Nikki Parsley. "Her success is a byproduct of her relentless commitment to putting in the work on a daily basis."

A forward/midfielder, Moroni is the youngest All-American in program history as a sophomore. The Cordoba, Argentina, native put together a stellar second season in a Liberty uniform, leading the Lady Flames in every major offensive category, including: goals (19), assists (8), points (46), game-winning goals, penalty stroke conversions (2-of-2) and shots on goal (47).

Moroni matched the school record with 19 goals, and her 46 points marked the second most in a single season in school history. Also a first team All-BIG EAST selection and first All-South region honoree, she placed No. 8 in the nation in goals per game (1.00) and No. 9 in points per game (2.42).

Moroni earned Longstreth/NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 4. The Argentina native also made regular appearances in the BIG EAST Weekly Awards after being tabbed a preseason All-BIG EAST team selection. She was selected as the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week twice (Oct. 2, Oct. 30) and to the Weekly Honor Roll on four occasions.

Moroni tallied three or more points on eight occasions, highlighted by a hat trick and six points against Old Dominion at home on Sept. 29. She also tallied six points on Sept. 17 versus MAC runner-up Kent State and recorded five points in back-to-back games late in the season at Temple (Oct. 27) and against North Carolina (Oct. 29).

The NFHCA honored 48 field hockey student-athletes with first, second, or third team All-America recognition. Liberty and fellow BIG EAST member Connecticut combined for six of the 48 All-Americans.
