Bongart posted a 3-0 mark in singles, this weekend.
On the final day of competition at the SDSU Fall Classic II, Liberty's Ashley Bongart claimed the White singles crown with a three-set victory on Sunday at the Aztec Tennis Center.
Bongart's victory capped off a 3-0 weekend for the Lady Flames junior. She defeated San Diego State's, Paola Diaz, 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.
"I am very grateful to the coaches and our school to allow us to travel to California and play against some great competition. I appreciate the work Coach Maren and Coach Lemmi have done to prepare me for what I faced this weekend," Bongart said. "Their encouragement, support and coaching helped me through some challenging moments. I'm looking forward to a great spring season and happy to be surrounded by such supportive teammates."
Bongart's triumph was her team-leading ninth singles win this fall.
Senior Evangeline Crist won her third-place match on Sunday, 6-1, 6-1, over Cal Poly's Grace Olyphant.
Liberty's doubles unit of Maria Medina and Lara Soares emerged victorious in their third-place match against SDSU's Nnena Nadozie and Magda Aubets, 6-2, in the Blue doubles flight.
The Lady Flames picked up eight total victories (five singles, three doubles) over the course of the three-day tournament.
Liberty's fall season has reached its conclusion. The Lady Flames will open spring competition on Jan. 20 at Dartmouth.
