Liberty wraps up the fall portion of its 2017-18 schedule at the SDSU Fall Classic II, this weekend.
Liberty women's tennis will conclude its fall portion of the 2017-18 schedule at the SDSU Fall Classic II in San Diego, Calif., Friday through Sunday at the Aztec Tennis Center.
Seven Liberty players will compete at the three-day event, held at the Aztec Tennis Complex – Evangeline Crist, Rebekah Anderson, Grace Hashiguchi, Lara Soares, Maria Medina, Ashley Bongart and Nasha Ghajar.
"This will be a great ending to the competitive side of our fall season," stated Lady Flames head coach Jeff Maren. "Our girls will face stiff competition this weekend, which will inevitably strengthen our problem-solving and mental skills. Our goal is to focus only on proper execution one point at a time and to not dwell on the past or get caught up in the future."
The 10-team tournament will feature: Liberty, host San Diego State, Columbia, Cal Poly, SMU, Air Force, Utah, University of San Diego, Colorado and Fresno State.
To date, Liberty has 50 total wins (37 singles, 13 doubles) during the fall 2017 season. Medina paces the squad with seven singles victories against just three losses, while Bongart is 6-3 on the season.
In doubles, Crist is 5-1 on the year to lead the team. Crist has 79 career doubles triumphs, the second most in Liberty women's tennis history, behind only Valerie Thong (90 wins, 2013-16). She is also second in program history with 70 singles wins.
Juniors Anderson and Bongart have been the most formidable doubles unit with a 4-2 mark together.
