The No. 4 seed Liberty Flames  will square off with No. 1 seed High Point at Vert Stadium in High Point, N.C. in a Big South semifinal on Wednesday.
 
The Flames advanced to the semifinal with a 3-0 win in the quarterfinals over No. 5 seed Gardner-Webb on Sunday afternoon at Osborne Stadium.
 
Notables
• Liberty downed No. 5 seed Gardner-Webb, 3-0, at Osborne Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Kevin Mendoza scored twice and Tresor Mbuyu netted a goal in win, Liberty's eighth shutout of the year.
 
• Liberty has outscored its opponents, 34-16, in 2017. The Flames enter Wednesday's contest 17th nationally in scoring offense with a 2.0 goals per game average. Liberty also ranks 20th in total goals.
 
• With their win, the Flames have posted an 8-2 mark at Osborne Stadium, this season. Liberty has outscored its opponents, 23-7, at home in 2017.
 
• Liberty enters Wednesday's contest with a 0.924 team goals-against average.

Flames Advance
Midfielder Kevin Mendoza netted two goals, as the No. 4 seed Liberty Flames shut out the No. 5 seed Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs, 3-0, in a Big South quarterfinal match, Sunday afternoon at Osborne Stadium. With the win, Liberty advanced to the Big South semifinals on Wednesday.

Mendoza, a first team Big South All-Conference member, scored his 10th and 11th goals of the season. His first goal midway through the second half broke a scoreless tie.

Forward Tresor Mbuyu, also a Big South All-Conference first team member, capped off the Liberty victory with his 11th goal in the closing minute of play.

Liberty recorded its eighth shutout of the season, holding the Runnin' Bulldogs, who entered the match fourth in the nation with a 2.63 goals per game average, to two shots on goal.

Clean Sheet Leaders
With its 3-0 blanking of Gardner-Webb on Sunday, Liberty has now posted eight shutouts on the season.
 
Liberty finished the Big South Conference regular season tied for the league lead with seven shutouts.  High Point also posted seven.
 
In addition, Liberty enters Wednesday's game with a  0.924 goals-against average. The Flames have allowed two or more goals just four times during their 17 games. 
 
One-Two Punch
Tresor Mbuyu begins the week 23rd in the nation with  a 1.59 points per game average and ranks 20th in the country with team-leading 27 total points. 
 
Teammate Kevin Mendoza ranks 25th nationally with 1.53 points per game and 26 total points.
 
Tied for the Liberty lead with 11 goals,  the two juniors are 20th in the country in total goals.
