Salas won his match on Sunday to finish with a 3-1 mark in singles.
Liberty wrapped up its fall tournament schedule on a strong note during day three of the Wake Forest Invitational, collecting five victories (four singles, one doubles) at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.
Over the course of the three-day event, the Flames won 13 matches (nine singles, four doubles).
"Our coaching staff was really proud of our team this weekend. We finished strong today," said Liberty head coach Derek Schwandt. "I give credit to our guys for building a standard this fall of competing with all of their head and heart."
Liberty sophomore Vince Salas closed out his tournament with another victory to improve to 3-1 on the weekend. After his B1 singles opponent withdrew due to injury, Salas won an extra match in straight sets over Davidson's Yash Parikh, 6-3, 6-0.
Eddie Gutierrez captured his second match of the Wake Forest Fall Invite on Sunday. The junior knocked off Fernando Guardia of Mercer in a seventh-place match in the B2 singles draw. Gutierrez and Salas shared the team lead with 10 singles wins each, this fall.
Gutierrez and Salas teamed up in doubles for their second triumph of the tournament. The duo won the consolation division of the A1 doubles draw with a 6-3 victory against North Carolina's Anu Kodali and Ladd Harrison.
Senior Diego Castano defeated NC State's Colin Shick in two sets, 6-4, 6-3 for his second singles win of the weekend. Meanwhile, junior Max Borcuti earned a straight-sets victory over Big South foe Carlos Sala of Radford, 6-3, 6-1.
The Flames' fall season has reached its conclusion. Liberty will continue to train in preparation for the spring 2018 season. The Flames' first match will be on Jan. 19 at Virginia Tech.
