Meet Information Course Information Blacksburg Weather Five Liberty women's cross country runners will race at the low-key Hokie Open, Friday afternoon in Blacksburg, Va. The women's 4K is set for 5:10 p.m. at the Buford Meredith Cross Country Course on Virginia Tech's campus.

The Lady Flames are slated to face opponents from Big South foes Longwood and Radford, meet host Virginia Tech, Bluefield State and Ferrum.
Checking Out the Course This is the 11th straight year that Liberty has competed in at least one event at the mostly flat Buford Meredith Cross Country Course.
All of the Lady Flames' Friday entrants have previously raced at Virginia Tech except for freshman Clara Lynch. Erin Hansel's 6K personal best (23:45.8) was achieved in Blacksburg, while Elizabeth Hutton made her collegiate cross country debut at the 2016 Hokie Open.
A Look Back at Last Year Last season, six Lady Flames raced in the Hokie Open 4K on Nov. 4, 2016. Brooke Turner led the way with a 12th-place finish in 14:56.1. She was joined in the top 20 by Gabriella Delbo (14th, 15:02.0) and Jessie Proehl (19th, 15:23.5).
Springboard to Success Hokie Open participants have made a significant impact for the Lady Flames at the following season's Big South Championships in recent years.
After racing in the 2015 Hokie Open, Terrill Zentmeyer and Kammi Kurtz placed fifth and eighth, respectively at the 2016 Big South meet. Their efforts helped the Lady Flames capture the team championship.
2016 Hokie Open participant Brooke Turner served as Liberty's No. 2 runner at last Saturday's 2017 Big South Cross Country Championships, crossing the finish line in 13th place.
Happy Birthday, Erin! Sophomore Erin Hansel will be competing in her final race as an 18-year-old on Friday. The Canadian will celebrate her 19th birthday on Tuesday (Nov. 7).
Reaching the Finish Line Friday's Hokie Open will most likely be the final race of the 2017 cross country season for each of Liberty's competitors there. The Flames and Lady Flames will be limited to seven entrants apiece at the 2017 NCAA Division I Southeast Regional Championships, which are set for Nov. 10 at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va.
