Liberty to Host Winthrop for Senior Day, Saturday

The Liberty Flames men's soccer team will close out its 2017 regular season schedule with two home games at Osborne Stadium, Saturday and Wednesday. 
 
Liberty will host the Winthrop Eagles for a Big South match on Saturday. The Senior Day contest is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, the Flames close out the regular season with a match against the Radford Highlanders. Match time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
 
Notables
• The Flames saw their season-long four match winning streak come to an end at High Point, Wednesday.The Panthers scored two goals in the second half for a 2-0 win.
 
• Liberty has outscored its opponents, 28-12. The Flames enter Saturday's contest 15th nationally in  scoring offense with a 2.0 goals per game average. Liberty ranks 27th in total goals.
 
• Liberty leads the Big South with a 0.838 goals-against average. The Flames lead the conference with six shutouts and have been only shut out twice.
 
Tresor Mbuyu begins the week 18th nationally with  a 1.64 points per game average.
 
•Goalkeeper James Knoebel leads the Big South in goals-against average (0.868) and save percentage (.797).
 
Clean Sheet Leaders
Liberty leads the Big South Conference with six shutouts.  Meanwhile, goalkeeper James Knoebel has recorded five of the shutouts and shared in the sixth.
 
Liberty's goals-against average of 0.838 ranks 27th nationally.
 
Honoring the Seniors
Before Saturday's match, Liberty men's soccer will  honor its seniors in a pregame ceremony. Liberty players Jovanni Chavez, Alex Dominguez, Brady Mazzei, Edgardo Reyes and Pepe Segarra will be recognized along with manager Hunter Hudson.

Entering the weekend, Liberty has outscored  its opponents, 28-12.
