Saturday's Top Storylines
1. Liberty (3-4, 0-2 Big South) will travel to Gardner-Webb (1-6, 0-1 Big South) on Saturday, as both teams aim for their first conference win of 2017.
2. The Flames are looking to snap a four-game losing streak, while the Runnin' Bulldogs have dropped back-to-back contests.
3. Liberty and Gardner-Webb, two charter members of Big South football, will meet on the gridiron for the 18th consecutive season. The Flames have won nine of their last 10 meetings with the Runnin' Bulldogs, including four of the last five matchups in Boiling Springs, N.C.
4. The Flames are seeking the first road win by either team in the Liberty-Gardner-Webb series since Oct. 26, 2013, when the Flames posted a 24-0 shutout victory at Spangler Stadium.
5. Liberty's defense, which has given up 862 rushing yards during the last two games, will be challenged again on Saturday. Gardner-Webb QB Tyrell Maxwell, the reigning Big South Offensive Player of the Year, leads the conference with 612 rushing yards this season.
6. Liberty QB Stephen Calvert is coming off of a 408-yard, 5-TD performance at Monmouth. He has thrown for 21 TDs in 2017, leaving him four shy of setting a Liberty single-season record.

A Liberty Win Would ...
• Snap the Flames' four-game losing streak, enabling Liberty to avoid its first five-game losing skid since dropping five straight contests between 2011 and 2012, including the first four games of Turner Gill's tenure at Liberty.
• Halt the Flames' three-game Big South losing streak, enabling Liberty to avoid its first four-game Big South losing skid since six straight conference setbacks between 2005 and 2006.
• Avoid the Flames' second 0-3 Big South start in program history (also 2005).
• Boost the Flames' all-time record against Gardner-Webb to 14-9-1, including 6-5-1 in Boiling Springs, N.C.
• Mark the Flames' fifth win in their last six visits to GWU.
• Represent the first win by a road team in the Liberty-Gardner-Webb series since Oct. 26, 2013, when the Flames posted a 24-0 shutout win in Boiling Springs, N.C.
