Liberty Heads to High Point for Last Road Contest of the Regular Season, Wednesday

Currently on a season-long four-game winning streak, the Liberty Flames travel to High Point, N.C., for a Big South Conference match with the High Point Panthers, Wednesday.

Kickoff at Vert Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m.  The contest is Liberty's last road match of the 2017 regular season.
 

Notables
•The Flames enter Wednesday's contest off a six-day break. Liberty pushed its winning streak to four games with a 1-0 win over Marshall in its last match on Oct. 17.  Pepe Segarra provided the game-winner, scoring his second goal of the year  with 42 seconds remaining.

• Liberty has outscored its opponents, 28-10. The Flames enter Wednesday's contest 11th nationally in  scoring offense with a 2.15 goals per game average. Liberty ranks 22nd in total goals.

• Liberty leads the Big South with a 0.75 goals-against average. The Flames rank 19th nationally in the category.

Tresor Mbuyu begins the week 16th nationally with  a 1.77 points per game average and 20th in the nation with nine goals. 

•Goalkeeper James Knoebel leads the Big South in goals-against average (0.78) and save percentage (.815).

Liberty Extends Winning Streak
A goal by Pepe Segarra in the final minute of regulation powered the Liberty Flames past the Marshall Thundering Herd, 1-0, Oct. 17 at Osborne Stadium

After being held in check by the Herd, the Flames broke through in the final minute. 

Gaining possession in the midfield, the ball was pushed forward to forward Matt Zaczyk at the top right corner of the 18-yard box, who immediately dumped it down to forward Tresor Mbuyu at the near post. Mbuyu then sent a pass  in front of the net where Segarra scored with 42 seconds left to give Liberty the 1-0 win and extend its season-long winning streak to four. 

The shutout was the Flames' Big South leading sixth of the season.

Offensive Numbers Standout
Entering the week, Liberty has outscored its opponents, 28-10. 

The Flames will enter Wednesday's contest 11th nationally in  scoring offense with a 2.15 goals per game average. Liberty ranks 22nd in total goals.

Clean Sheet Leaders
Liberty leads the Big South Conference with six shutouts.  

Goalkeeper James Knoebel has recorded five of the shutouts and shared in the sixth.

Liberty's goals-against average of 0.75 ranks 19th nationally.

Scoring First
The Flames have scored first in 10 of their 13 contests this season. Liberty holds a 8-1-1 record in those games. 

In addition, the Flames are 6-0 when leading at halftime and 3-1-1 when they are tied.
