The Flames shaved four strokes off their morning round flight score, carding a 6-under par 278 in the afternoon. Liberty finished its first two rounds on the Royal Oaks Country Club (par 71, 7,068 yards) with an overall 8-under par 560 (282-278).
The event is following a unique setup where all five golfers from each team compete alongside their teammates in a fivesome grouping.
No. 8 Baylor, the event's tournament host, holds a commanding lead entering tomorrow's final round. The Bears finished the day with a 22-under par 546 (272-274) to lead No. 17 Arkansas by 13 strokes, who finished Monday with a 9-under par 559 (283-276).
Liberty is one stroke ahead of Minnesota (281-280) and New Mexico (274-287). The Gophers and the Lobos finished the first day of competition at a 7-under par 561, rounding out the top five teams in the 13-team field.
Four of Baylor's starting five golfers finished Monday's second round ranked inside the top four individuals of the 73-man field, led by Cooper Dossey's 9-under par 133 (66-67).
Liberty's Ervin Chang carded consecutive sub-70 rounds and is one of four golfers who share fourth place with a 5-under par 137 (69-68). The sophomore paced Liberty on the day with 10 birdies, including six in the first round and four more during the afternoon flight.
Isaiah Logue had his best showing of the early season, carding a 3-under par 139 (71-68). The senior offset three bogeys with six birdies on the day, helping post his lowest 18-hole total of the season during the afternoon round.
Mickey DeMorat (72-70) and Payton Taylor (70-72) flip-flopped their scorecards on the day and share 30th place following an even par 142.
DeMorat, who entered the event as the No. 36 individual ranked golfer in the country, finished the day with nine birdies, while Taylor recorded six birdies in his second start of the fall campaign.
Liberty's final golfer in the field is Alexandre Fuchs, who is tied for 49th place following a 4-over par 146 (74-72). The freshman helped the Flames during the afternoon round, carding two of his four total birdies during his second time around the Oak Royal Country Club.
The final round of the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate gets underway on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. (CST) with the Flames starting at the par-3, No. 12 hole (196 yards) in a shotgun start.
