Following a career-best finish at the First American Mortgage Intercollegiate, Liberty's Mickey DeMorat has been named the Big South Men's Golfer of the Week.
DeMorat carded a 6-under par 210 (73-69-68) on The Grove Club (page 72, 7,389 yards) in College Grove, Tenn., Sunday through Tuesday.
The senior closed with the second-best round of the final day at the Middle Tennessee hosted event, finishing one stroke out of first place.
The runner-up showing marked DeMorat's best finish since transferring to Liberty following his freshman season at Eastern Florida State. Previously, he had a pair of third-place finishes at the 2016 SunTrust Gator Invitational and the 2016 Tar Heel Intercollegiate.
DeMorat posted a pair of sub-70 rounds at the First American Mortgage Intercollegiate, giving him five out of nine rounds below 70 during the fall season. He currently leads the Flames and ranks third in the Big South with a 70.56 season stroke average.
The Flames return to the golf course in two weeks when they travel to Dallas, Texas for the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate on Oct. 23-24. The two-day, 54-hole event is hosted by Baylor at the Royal Oaks Country Club.
