Lady Flames Duo Earn Big South Player of the Week Honors

After an undefeated weekend with two shutouts, moving into sole possession of first place in the Big South, Liberty's Isabella Habuda has been named the Big South's Attacking Player of the Week while Cora Duininck is the Defensive Player of the Week. This is the first Player of the Week honor for both Habuda and for Duininck.

Habuda has elevated her game to start conference play, scoring all five of Liberty's goals during conference play. Habuda is the only player in the Big South with multiple game-winning goals during conference games. To start last week on the road at Radford, Habuda notched her second straight game-winning goal in overtime as she handed Radford its first home loss of the season in double overtime. To close out the weekend at home, Habuda scored the game's lone goal against Campbell in the second half to give Liberty its third straight victory.

The senior from Belle River, Ontario Canada ranks second in goals scored (5) during Big South contests while averaging four shots per game. In just two seasons at Liberty, Habuda has dominated the Big South tallying 21 career points in 13 Big South games with nine goals and three assists.

While Habuda has been on a hot streak, Liberty's backline has been stellar posting four shutouts during conference play. As a member of that backline and starting in every Big South contest, Duininck has made an impact as a freshman playing in multiple positions within the backline. Duininck played all 190 minutes in the two shutouts against Radford and Campbell. Going into the weekend, Campbell and Radford combined for 16 goals during Big South play and Duininck along with Liberty's backline did not allow a goal.

Liberty now has four shutouts during conference and five for the season. The Lady Flames' defense has allowed just one goal during Big South contests, posting a league-best 0.18 goals against average. For the season, Liberty ranks second with a 0.95 goals against average.

The Lady Flames will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 11, when they hit the road to face Presbyterian.
