Following a pair of top-10 finishes, Liberty's Ervin Chang and Alexandre Fuchs were honored today by the Big South Conference.
Chang was named the Big South Men's Golfer of the Week, while Fuchs was selected the Big South Men's Golf Freshman of the Week.
Chang helped the Flames to a second-place finish at the Shoal Creek Invitational, earlier this week in Birmingham, Ala. The sophomore carded a career-best 2-under par 214 (71-71-72), posting his second career top-10 finish to finish in ninth place.
He played two of his three rounds at the UAB-hosted tournament under par, giving him three under par rounds during the early part of the 2017-18 season. The native of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia finished the tournament with 10 birdies and 36 pars in the 54-hole event hosted at the Shoal Creek Country Club (par 72, 7,264 yards).
Fuchs was one of four Liberty golfers to compete at the Patriot Intercollegiate, posting a 1-over par 217 (71-74-72) to finish tied for sixth place.
The native of Mouans-Sartoux, France, opened the event with a 1-under par 71 on the par-72, 7,071-yard Chantilly National Golf & Country Club in Centreville, Va. The sub-par score was the second of his young career at Liberty.
Fuchs tied for sixth place in the field in par-4 scoring (+2/4.07 average) and tied for ninth place in par-5 scoring (-3/4.75 average).
The Flames will play the middle event of the five-tournament fall schedule on Oct. 8-10. The 54-hole event is hosted by Middle Tennessee State at The Grove Club in College Grove, Tenn.
