Flames Move Up to No. 16 in STATS FCS Top 25 Poll

STATS FCS Top 25 poll

After a dramatic win over Indiana State on Saturday at home, Liberty is now ranked No. 16 in the latest STATS FCS Top 25 poll.

The Flames moved up three spot in the national media poll from the previous week after a 42-41 win over Indiana State in front of 16,060 fans at Williams Stadium.

Big South Special Teams Player of the Week Corbin Jackson blocked a potential 23-yard game-winning field goal as time expired to seal the victory. Liberty is off to a 3-0 start for the first time since the 2008 season.

As a part of Liberty's two-year FBS reclassification process, the Flames are eligible for the STATS FCS Top 25 poll, but not the FCS Coaches Top 25 poll.

The Flames have been ranked in each of the regular season STATS FCS Top 25 polls this season. Prior to the national rankings the last three weeks, the last time the Flames were ranked was Oct. 12, 2015. Liberty was ranked No. 22 in the country before a 20-17 loss at Monmouth on Oct. 17 dropped Liberty out of both national rankings for the rest of the year.

The Flames will face their first ranked opponent of the season when they travel to Jacksonville, Ala., this weekend to face No. 5/7 Jacksonville State. Kickoff rom Burgess-Snow Field at JSU Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
