The Liberty men's golf team concluded the fall portion of its schedule with a seventh place finish out of 21 squads at the Old Dominion Seascape Invitational, played at the 6,131-yard, par-70 Seascape Golf Club, in Kitty Hawk, N.C., on Tuesday. Liberty (300-279--579) finished seventh, 10 strokes behind tournament champion Hartford (284-285—569). The Flames entered the day in 10th place and 18 strokes behind the leader, before shooting the day's lowest round at 279. During the tournament, the Flames were led by Nathan Schenz-Davis (76-64—140), as the redshirt sophomore finished tied for ninth at even par for the tournament, after shooting a round-low 64 for the tournament's final 18 holes. Andrew Nelson (71-74—145) finished at 5 over, while Preston Dembowiak (76-72—148) finished at 8 over, along with Jay Calvo (77-71—148). Rounding out the Flames' squad was Peter Horstman (78-72—150) at 10 over. Wofford (283-291—574) entered the final round in the lead, but fell to third place after Hartford fashioned a tremendous 285 round to take the tournament championship. Campbell (292-280—572) jumped into second place with a 280 in the final round. Campbell's 280 was the second-lowest team score of the day, trailing only Liberty's 279. Jordan Utley (67-70—137) of Richmond entered the final round in a three-way tie for first place. Utley was able to squeeze out a win at 3 under, capturing medalist honors for the tournament. Jimmy Lytle (67-71—138) of Elon entered the day tied with Utley, but fell one stroke short at 2 under. A.J. Oleksak (69-69—138) of Hartford and Garrett Medeiros (69-69—138) of Wofford tied Lytle for second place. Liberty will take a break from competition, as the Flames don't hit the links again until Feb.26-27, at the Argonaut Invitational hosted by West Florida. The event will take place at the Pensacola Country Club in Pensacola, Fla.
