Liberty Lady Flames women's lacrosse player Carly White was selected as the Big South Women's Lacrosse Freshman of the Week by the conference office, Tuesday.
White compiled five goals, three assists, eight points, seven ground balls, four draw controls and four caused turnovers in a pair of Big South games, last week.
Last Wednesday at Longwood, White scored the first goal of the game and added two assists in the midst of a 5-0 Liberty run that helped stake the Lady Flames to a 9-5 halftime lead and eventual 18-8 victory over the Lancers. The Marietta, Ga., native also added two ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers in that contest.
On Saturday against Campbell, White poured in a career-high four goals, added an assist and also corralled a career-best five ground balls. Her fourth and final goal of the day with 56.5 seconds left in the game put the Lady Flames ahead, 11-10, on the Camels.
Through 13 games of her freshman campaign, White is second on the team in assists (12), third in points (23) and tied for fifth in goals (11).
White becomes the second Liberty freshman this season to be chosen as the Big South Freshman of the Week. Hannah Quast received the same honor on Feb. 14.
White and the Lady Flames (3-10, 2-1 Big South) will make the trek to Gardner-Webb (0-13, 0-3 Big South) for a 4 p.m. contest, tomorrow in Boiling Springs, N.C.
