With Liberty hitting the midway point of its spring practice schedule, Flames Head Coach Turner Gill took time to meet with the local media to discuss his team's progress on Monday afternoon.
Gill praised the efforts of several players who have stood out to his coaching staff, including Dontae Duff (OL), Javon Frazier (DE), Antonio Gandy-Golden (WR), Michael Henderman (OL), Tyrin Holloway (CB), Corbin Jackson (CB), Jeremy Peters (CB) and Chris Turner (CB).
Gill also updated the media on the status of Todd Macon, who has suffered a knee injury and will miss the rest of spring practice and a portion of the 2017 season. The redshirt senior rushed for 620 yards and a team-best seven touchdowns in 2016. In 29 career games at Liberty, Macon has recorded 264 carries for 1,189 yards and 18 touchdowns.
The Flames will have the rest of this week and all of next week to prepare for their annual spring football game on April 15. Kickoff for the intrasquad scrimmage is slated for Noon at Williams Stadium with free admission to the event.
