Complete Game Notes Big South-leading Liberty (18-13, 5-1 Big South) caps its six-game road trip with a weekend series at Campbell (19-18, 4-2), Saturday and Sunday. The Camels enter the weekend in second place in Big South standings. This weekend's series also features the top two batting teams in the conference, in Liberty (.319) and Campbell (.298).
Liberty has won the season series against Campbell, 2-1, each of the last two years. However, the Camels hold an 18-6 lead in the all-time series.
Lady Flames at a Glance Liberty posted a season-best eight-game winning streak, March 10-25. Since then, the Lady Flames have gone 1-3, including two losses at No. 19/19 Tennessee on Tuesday. Liberty downed NC State, 5-3, on Wednesday, in its last game. Liberty bats .319 as a team, leading the Big South in batting average, slugging and on-base percentages.
Liberty has five out of the top nine individual batting averages in the conference. Tori Zavodny bats .400, while Amber Bishop (.387, 6 HR, 29 RBI) has posted a conference-best 43 hits. Autumn Bishop (.391) is tied for the conference lead in runs (29) and doubles (10). Sarah Robertson bats .351 with nine doubles and 24 RBI, while Alexia Taylor hits .342. Emily Sweat checks in at .317, hitting her first career homer at NC State.
Liberty leads the Big South with 175 strikeouts. In the circle, Julia DiMartino boasts a 2.82 ERA and a team-high seven wins, while Chase Cassady (4-7, 4.77) has tossed two shutouts. Kenzie Friesen is 5-1 with a 3.39 ERA and one shutout this year.

Campbell (19-18, 4-2), the defending Big South runner-up, opened conference play with a pair of series wins over Longwood and Presbyterian. The Camels average a conference-best 1.86 steals per game, led by 21 stolen bases by Madison Herring. Amber Schisler (.400) leads the conference in RBI (34) and on-base percentage (.568), also hitting 11 homers. Melissa Tullar checks in with a .333 batting average. Campbell is led in the circle by Katie Baker, who is 8-6 with a 3.71 ERA.
Campbell is 18-6 all-time against Liberty. The Camels have posted a 12-5 record versus the Lady Flames since rejoining the Big South in 2012.
Liberty vs. Campbell - 2016 Recap In game one on April 15, 2016 at Liberty Stadium, Julia DiMartino tossed a four-hit shutout in a 9-0, five-inning victory.
The Lady Flames then edged Campbell, 5-4, in game two, as Deidra See went 2-for-3 with three RBI, including a go-ahead two-run single in the bottom of the fifth.
Campbell shut out Liberty, 6-0, in the series finale, behind a complete-game two-hitter by Courtney Roberts.
See went 3-for-6 with two doubles and five RBI in the Campbell series last year, while Julia DiMartino was 2-1 with a 2.17 ERA. In two career appearances against Campbell, Kenzie Friesen is 1-1 with a 0.84 ERA and one shutout (March 28, 2015).
Team Notes -- Emily Sweat's walk-off single last Saturday gave Liberty a 6-5 win over Radford. It was the Lady Flames' fourth walk-off win in Liberty Softball Stadium history. -- Liberty won eight straight games before falling to Radford in Saturday's second game. It was the team's longest winning streak since an eight-game streak, April 13-20, 2011. -- The Lady Flames have scored 10 or more runs in eight games this season, already tying for the most 10-run games in the program's Division I history (since 1994). -- Liberty is 2-0 against ACC opponents this season, defeating Syracuse on Feb. 24 before beating NC State on Wednesday. - Liberty ranks in the top 50 nationally in batting average (31st - .319), triples per game (33rd - 0.26) and doubles per game (48th - 1.47).
Big South Report Liberty leads the Big South with a .380 batting average in six conference games so far, tying with Campbell at 7.0 runs per Big South contest.
In conference games only, Autumn Bishop hits .556 with two doubles and five runs scored, while Amber Bishop is at .545 with two homers, 10 RBI and six runs scored. Alexia Taylor hits .450 in Big South play, with two home runs and eight RBI. Emily Sweat (.444), Sarah Robertson (.435) and Jasmeen Click (.400) all bat .400 or better.
Big South opponents hit .248, while Liberty has struck out 38 batters in 39 innings. Julia DiMartino is 4-0 with one shutout, 24 strikeouts and a 2.91 ERA in conference play.
Week to Date The Lady Flames started their six-game road swing with a doubleheader at No. 19/19 Tennessee on Tuesday, falling, 6-1 and 6-0 to the Volunteers.
Liberty then scored four third-inning runs on Wednesday, defeating NC State, 5-3. In the third inning, the Lady Flames strung together six straight hits. Amber Bishop hit her team-leading sixth home run, while Emily Sweat launched a three-run blast, her first homer as a Lady Flame. Sarah Robertson went 3-for-3, while Julia DiMartino went the distance with six strikeouts for her team-leading seventh win of the season.
Walk (Off) This Way Last Saturday, Liberty trailed Radford, 5-2, going into the bottom of the seventh. Amber Bishop trimmed the deficit to 5-3 with an RBI single, and another run scored on a fielder's choice. With runners on second and third, and one out, Emily Sweat sent a walk-off, two-run single to right field. It was Liberty's first walk-off win of the year, and extended the team's winning streak to a season-best eight games.
Current Lady Flames Cassie Gingerich (April 18, 2015 vs. Coastal Carolina) and Deidra See (April 23, 2016 vs. CSU) have also registered one game-winning walk-off hit apiece in their career.
2X3 During last Saturday's second game between Liberty and Radford, Alexia Taylor and Emily Sweat hit back-to-back triples in the fifth inning. The last time the Lady Flames had back-to-back triples was Feb. 26, 2016, when Tori Zavodny and Sarah Robertson hit consecutive triples against Grambling.
Liberty is tied for first in the Big South with nine triples on the season, including a program-record-tying three against Morgan State on Feb. 12. In that game, Autumn Bishop tied a program record with two triples.
All Good Things Come to an End Sarah Robertson and Emily Sweat both had extended hitting streaks snapped during game one at Tennessee on Tuesday. Robertson batted .447 with a team-leading seven doubles and 13 RBI during her 13-game hitting streak. That streak tied for the 11th longest in program history. Sweat batted .414 during her 10-game hitting streak which ended on Tuesday.
Making Sacrifices Deidra See leads the Big South and ranks 27th in NCAA Division I with three sacrifice flies. She is one sac fly away from the program single-season record of four, last set in 2011 by Ashley Bensinger and Jenny Law. See is tied for fourth in program history with five sacrifice flies, with Kaylee West (2009-12) holding the career record with eight.
Hold it Down Liberty posted back-to-back shutouts, beginning March 14, as Chase Cassady struck out nine batters in a four-hit shutout over North Carolina A&T.
Julia DiMartino then went the distance, yielding just five hits in a 12-0 blanking of CSU on March 17. DiMartino is ranked ninth in program history with eight career shutouts, while Cassady and Kenzie Friesen both have three career shutouts.
100 Club 2015 Big South Freshman of the Year Alexia Taylor (.342) is the team's active leader with 145 career hits. She is one of just four players in program history to record 100 or more hits by the end of their sophomore season. Sarah Robertson is on pace to become the fifth Liberty sophomore to reach 100 career hits, as she currently has 90 hits.
1-2 Punch Amber Bishop, batting .387 on the season, leads the team with six homers and 29 RBI. She hit two homers and drove in six runs, March 17 at Charleston Southern.
Her twin sister, Autumn Bishop, (.391) leads Liberty with 10 doubles, three triples and 29 runs scored. She is tied for the lead in the conference in doubles and runs.
