Quick Hits
• Liberty enters the weekend with a 14-9 overall record and a 4-2 mark in Big South Conference play.  In their last outing, the Flames fell at No. 16 East Carolina, 8-6. It was the first midweek loss for Liberty this season.
• Bethune-Cookman is 18-9 overall and 6-3 in MEAC play this season. The Wildcats spilt a pair of midweek games at North Florida, earlier this week. Liberty and Bethune-Cookman have never met on the diamond.
• Liberty returns home to Liberty Baseball Stadium after a 2-2 road swing. The Flames are 8-4 at home in 2017. 
• Liberty has posted a 9-6 record in the month of March. 11 of Liberty's March contests have been at Liberty Baseball Stadium.
• The Flames lead the Big South in doubles and ERA.
• The 2017 season is Liberty's first under head coach Scott Jackson.  Jackson, who was an assistant coach at Liberty in 2008, spent the past eight seasons as an assistant on head coach Mike Fox's staff at North Carolina. 

Double Vision
Liberty enters this weekend's series among the national leaders in both doubles and double plays.  So far this season, the Flames lead the Big South Conference in doubles with 55 and rank 23rd nationally. Head Coach Scott Jackson's squad is averaging 2.39 doubles per game and begins the weekend 13th in the country in the category.  D.J. Artis leads the Flames with nine and is joined in top 10 in the Big South Conference by Sammy Taormina and Jake Barbee, who have eight two-baggers apiece.

Meanwhile, Liberty's 1.09 double plays per game are 17th in the country entering the weekend. The Flames have turned 25 double plays, this season.

ERA Tops Big South
Led by right-hander Caleb Evans, the Flames top the Big South Conference with a 3.51 team earned run average (ERA). Liberty's ERA is a run lower than Presbyterian who is next in the conference with a 4.85 ERA.

Evans enters the weekend with a team-leading 1.63 ERA. The senior right-hander is currently second in the Big South category. Evans has given up seven earned runs over 38 2/3 innings. He leads the conference in wins with a 4-2 mark.

Also, the Liberty bullpen is enjoying a successful start to the 2017 season.  Flames relievers have combined to post a 2.11 ERA over 98 innings and hold a 9-1 record with three saves. The Liberty relief corps as a unit has struck out 106 batters and walked 28, a 3.79 to 1 strikeout to walk ratio.

Baseball Parking
Fans coming to the Liberty Baseball Stadium are encouraged to park in either the Speakman (in front of the bookstore), the Parking Garage (by the softball stadium), or the Baseball Outfield parking lots on Tuesday. Each lot provides easy access to the Liberty Baseball Stadium. Due to limited availability, the Orange/Bailey parking lot in front of the stadium has been designated a reserved lot and requires a pass in order to park.
