The Lady Flames will then play one game at NC State (12-20, 6-3 ACC), Wednesday at 5 p.m. Liberty's last meeting with Tennessee came in the NCAA Knoxville Regional, with the Vols prevailing, 8-0, May 20, 2011. Liberty is 0-2 all-time against NC State, as the Wolfpack has won both games by 2-1 scores.
Lady Flames at a Glance Liberty started its Big South season at 5-0 for the second season in a row before falling to Radford in the series finale on Saturday. NC State (12-20, 6-3 ACC) won one out of three games from North Carolina over the weekend. Jade Caraway bats .385 to lead the Wolfpack, followed by Brittany Nimmo at .341. Tyler Ross (.319) leads the team with five homers and 22 RBI.
Liberty is 1-0 against ACC opponents this year, downing Syracuse, 3-1, on Feb. 24.
Top 25 Challenge The Liberty softball team has posted a 6-51 all-time record versus Top 25 opponents.
This season, Liberty lost 7-1 to No. 6/5 UCLA on Feb. 19. Liberty was two outs away from knocking off No. 3/3 Florida, Feb. 25, taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the ninth before falling to the Gators, 2-1, in 10 innings. Liberty fell twice at No. 2/3 Auburn earlier in March.
In 2007, Liberty knocked off No. 23 Hawai'i, No. 10 Baylor and No. 6 Michigan. Liberty's 2-0 win over No. 6 Michigan, March 24, 2007, marks the highest-ranked team Liberty has beaten in softball, and the team's most recent victory over a nationally-ranked team.
Team Notes -- Emily Sweat's walk-off single on Saturday gave Liberty a 6-5 win over Radford. It was the Lady Flames' fourth walk-off win in Liberty Softball Stadium history.
