The Flames Club is welcoming all fans and alumni from the North Carolina and South Carolina areas to cheer on the Liberty men's basketball team in this week's Big South Championship. The Flames Club will host a fan gathering at Hickory Tavern two hours before each game played in Rock Hill on the campus of Winthrop. All Flames fans in attendance will be given a voucher at the door for a complimentary appetizer (one per group/table).
The Liberty men's basketball team (19-12, 14-4) secured the No. 3 seed and a first-round bye in this week's Big South Championship tournament hosted by Winthrop in Rock Hill, S.C. After posting the most wins since the 2010-11 season, the Flames will play No. 6 Radford in the quarterfinals at 3 p.m. on Thursday, and the winner will advance to the semifinal game at 6 p.m. on Friday. The championship game will be played at 1 p.m. on Sunday, hosted by the highest remaining seed.
Hickory Tavern is located at 2674 Celanese Road, about eight minutes from the Winthrop campus. Thursday's event will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., with Friday's event held from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. if the Flames advance to the semifinal game. If the Flames advance to the championship game against No. 1 Winthrop, the event will be held from 11 a.m. to Noon. If the Flames advance to the championship game against any other opponent, the game will be played at the Vines Center in Lynchburg.
