As the calendar year drew to a close, LFSN reporter Alan York was able to catch up with Liberty Swimming & Diving Head Coach Jake Shellenberger.
The Liberty swimming & diving team completed the fall portion of its 2016-17 season by competing at the Frank Elm Invite, hosted by Rutgers from Nov. 18-20. The Lady Flames went 5-1 in dual meets during the fall, including 1-0 against CCSA opponents. Liberty got off to a program-best 5-0 start after sweeping four opponents at the Intermountain Shootout in October.
The Lady Flames hold the top time in the CCSA this season in three events. Prudence Rooker has swum the fastest 200 breaststroke, while Delia Weber holds the fastest time in both the 1000 freestyle and 1,650 freestyle.
The Lady Flames will ring in the New Year in Fort Meyers, Fla., for the seventh year in a row. They will cap their training trip with a dual meet at two-time defending CCSA champion Florida Gulf Coast, Jan. 7.
