As the calendar winds down to the final days of 2016, the Liberty Flames Sports Network is looking back at the moments that made this athletics year special for Flames Nation.

Liberty Athletics Top Moments of 2016 continues today by looking at Moment No. 3, women's soccer claiming the Big South title for the sixth time in program history.

Liberty's women's soccer team capped off its first year under head coach Nate Norman with a 2-1 overtime victory over No. 1 seed High Point in the Big South Women's Soccer Championship. The conference title, Liberty's third in four years, was the sixth in program history for the Lady Flames, the most of any program in the Big South.

The 2016 calendar year was another banner year in Liberty Athletics. Liberty captured Big South titles in eight sports (football, men's golf, men's indoor track & field, men's outdoor track & field, women's cross country, women's indoor track & field, women's outdoor track & field and women's soccer).

The Flames also captured the 2015-16 Big South Sasser Cup title, the 12th in program history, establishing a new standard for most Sasser Cup titles in league history. Liberty also won the Men's All-Sport and Women's All-Sport trophies, marking the third sweep in Liberty Athletics history of the Big South's major awards.

The Liberty Flames Sports Network will continue to count down the top moments of 2016 when LibertyFlames.com reveals moment No. 2 on Thursday.
