Following the conclusion of the 2016 fall golf season, LFSN reporter Nick Pierce had a chance to recap the first half of Liberty's season with head coach Jeff Thomas.
Liberty finished top five in all five of its fall events, highlighted by a second-place finish at Duke's Rod Myers Invitational. Liberty's top-five finishes helped the Flames finish the fall season ranked No. 32 in the final Golfstat rankings of the calendar year.
The Flames finished the fall season with a 283.07 stroke average, shattering the program's previous fall stroke average record of 290.75 set in 2010.
Four of Liberty's starting five golfers at the fall finale event posted sub-par fall scoring averages: Mickey DeMorat (71.00), Isaiah Logue (71.29), Gabe Lench (71.50) and Kieran Vincent (71.57).
The Flames will return to the golf course on Feb. 6-7 with a return visit to the TPC – Sawgrass – Valley Course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., for the Sea Best Invitational.
