Keyen Green is the Lady Flames' first Big South Freshman of the Week since Feb. 18, 2013.

Thanks to her performance at the Navy Classic, Liberty post player Keyen Green has been honored as the Come Ready Nutrition Big South Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week.

A native of Philadelphia, Pa., Green becomes the Lady Flames' first Big South Freshman of the Week since Ashley Rininger on Feb. 18, 2013. It is Green's second award in as many days, after she was named to the Navy Classic All-Tournament Team on Sunday.

Green paced the Lady Flames in both points (11.0 ppg) and rebounds (13.0 rpg) during the two days of competition at the Navy Classic. She began the event with six points and a then season-high nine rebounds (six offensive) in just 12 minutes against Richmond on Saturday.

Green then recorded her first career double-double (season-high 16 points, season-high 17 rebounds) during Sunday's matchup with Navy. She posted 10 points and nine rebounds after halftime, nearly helping the Lady Flames overcome a 16-point third-quarter deficit to win.

Green's 17 boards on Sunday were the most by a Lady Flame since Rininger's 17-rebound effort at Winthrop on Jan. 20, 2015. She also become the first Liberty freshman with that many rebounds in a single game since March 15, 2009, when Avery Warley grabbed 17 boards against Gardner-Webb in the Big South Championship title game.

Through six games, Green leads the Lady Flames in both scoring (7.5 ppg) and rebounding (7.8 rpg). She ranks third on the Big South rebounding list this season and tops the conference in offensive boards per game (4.0 rpg).

Green and the Lady Flames (0-6) will play their lone December home game Saturday at 11 a.m. versus West Liberty (1-7). The contest will tip off a basketball doubleheader at the Vines Center, which also includes the Liberty men's basketball team playing host to Princeton at 2 p.m.
