2016 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Region Teams

Following its run to the BIG EAST Championship title game earlier this month, the Liberty field hockey team had three players tabbed to the 2016 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-South Region squads on Tuesday. Senior sisters Bethany Barr and Serena Barr garnered All-South Region first team distinctions, while freshman Agueda Moroni earned a spot on the All-South Region second team.

Bethany Barr, a midfielder, was previously selected to the second team in both 2014 and 2015. The Lurgan, Northern Ireland, native put together an outstanding senior campaign, registering six goals, a team-best 12 assists and 24 points (second on team) for the Lady Flames. Bethany's 12 assists this season matched a program record that she set as a freshman in 2013.

She also netted two game-winning goals in 2016, including the deciding goal in the 64th minute of a 1-0 win over No. 3 seed Providence in the semifinals of the 2016 BIG EAST Championship on Nov. 4. Barr concluded her four-year career near the top of several statistical categories for the Liberty field hockey program, including goals (26, fifth), assists (35, second) and points (87, fifth).

Serena Barr, a defender, also received second team distinction in both 2014 and 2015. Serena posted strong numbers during her final season in a Lady Flame uniform, totaling eight goals (second on team), 11 assists (second on team) and a team-high 27 points.

Barr's most impressive game came on Oct. 28 in a 7-0 win over Temple. The senior recorded two goals, two assists and a career-best six points. The Lurgan, Northern Ireland, native ended her Liberty four-year career fourth in program history in goals (29), first in assists (38) and third in points (96).

Moroni, a midfielder, put together an excellent freshman stint for the Lady Flames. The Cordoba, Argentina, native led the team in goals with 10 and added three assists for 23 points (third on team).

Her signature game came on Oct. 28, in which she scored three goals in the first 16:17, becoming the fastest player in school history to record a hat trick. Moroni was awarded BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks (Oct. 24, Oct. 31) late in the season.
