Following the conclusion of the Flames' fall season, Liberty Head Men's Tennis Coach Chris Johnson has announced the signing of Sebastian Mermersky to a national letter of intent to attend Liberty for the 2017-18 academic year.

Mermersky, a native of Washington, D.C., has accomplished a lot in his young tennis career to date. He was ranked No. 4 in the nation for 14s and No. 8 for 16s. Mermersky won five ITF doubles titles and an ITF singles title.

Mermersky garnered No. 1 rankings in the Mid-Atlantic section 12s, 14s (at age 12), 16s (at age 13) and 18s (at age 15). At 18s, he has won 2 USTA bronze balls.

Mermersky was ranked No. 8 nationally in 2014 by Tennisrecruiting.net and currently stands at No. 66. Internationally, Mermersky is No. 322 in the ITF rankings.

Johnson on Signing Mermersky
"Sebastian's results and rankings speak for themselves. In my opinion, he is one of the top 10 U.S. recruits in his class. He will most definitely make an immediate impact in our lineup."
