Liberty to Welcome Presbyterian for Senior Day

The Liberty men's soccer team will host the Presbyterian Blue Hose in its final regular season home match, Saturday at Osborne Stadium. Match time is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Before the contest, Liberty seniors Martin Agredo, Alan Arellano, Kyle Carr, Oluwatomiwa Kosoko and Jeremy Lee will be honored as part of Senior Day ceremonies.

With two games left in the regular season, Liberty (6-7-2, 3-2-1 Big South) and Presbyterian (6-8-2, 4-2 Big South) find themselves in the mix to qualify for the 2016 Big South Tournament. The league's top six teams will qualify for the Big South Tournament and the top two teams will receive a first round bye.

After tying High Point, 1-1, on Wednesday, Liberty brings a three-game unbeaten streak (2-0-1) into Saturday's contest. Meanwhile, Presbyterian had its three-game unbeaten streak (2-0-1) snapped, 2-1, by Big South co-leader UNC Asheville on Wednesday.

A Look at Liberty
Tresor Mbuyu scored his 10th goal, and a strong defensive effort against the No. 2 scoring team in the country, led to a 1-1 tie with High Point at Osborne Stadium on Wednesday.

With his goal on Wednesday, Mbuyu is now tied for the Big South Conference lead in goals and points with 24. The forward's point total is the most by a Flame since Darren Amoo collected 27 points in 2010.
Midfielder Kevin Mendoza is seventh in the Big South with 16 points. The midfielder is tied for seventh in the conference with six goals and is tied for third with four assists.

Big South Freshman of the Week Rigoberto Rojas leads Liberty and is second in the Big South with six assists. His assist total is the most by a Liberty player since Phillip Aseweh had eight assists in 2011. The forward has also scored two goals and has 10 points.

Midfielder Jovanni Chavez and forward Martin Agredo, with three goals apiece, join Mbuyu and Mendoza as Flames with multiple goals, this season. Agredo and Chavez also have three assists each on the year and nine points.

James Knoebel has started 14 matches between the goalposts for the Flames, this season. The freshman has posted a 1.55 goals-against average, a .741 save percentage and three shutouts, this season.

Head Coach Jeff Alder, a Liberty alum, is in his 16th season of leading the Flames. Liberty is 150-118-25 during his tenure.

A Look at Presbyterian
The UNC Asheville Bulldogs scored with less than six minutes left to edge Presbyterian, 2-1, Wednesday night in Clinton, S.C.  Sergio Pinto scored on a penalty kick for the Blue Hose in the contest.

Forward Mason Lewis leads Presbyterian and is tied for fourth in the Big South with 17 points. The forward is tied for fourth in the conference with seven goals.

Fellow forward Cade Crow also has reached double-digits in points with 11. Crow has scored four goals and assisted on three others.

Goalkeeper Connor Behrend has made 13 starts, posting a 0.97 goals-against average and a .843 save percentage. He has four shutouts.

Jonathan Potter is in his first season as head coach at Presbyterian.

The Series
Saturday's contest will be the ninth all-time meeting between the two teams. Liberty leads the series, 8-0.
