Liberty women's soccer goalkeeper Holly Van Noord has been named the Big South Women's Defensive Player of the Week for games played Oct. 17-23. The weekly honor is the second for the Lady Flames goalkeeper, this season.
Van Noord made 14 saves in two shutouts during the week, helping Liberty to record its fourth consecutive shutout. The Hudsonville, Mich., native made seven saves in a 2-0 win over Radford on Wednesday. After being honored before the game, the redshirt senior then recorded seven stops in a 2-0 win over UNC Asheville on Senior Day, Saturday.
Van Noord has not allowed a goal in her last 392:01 between the goalposts. With the two blank sheets, she now has six shutouts on the year and extends her Big South and Liberty career record to 39.
The redshirt senior leads the Big South Conference with a 0.86 goals-against average and a .862 save percentage.
Winners of four in a row and six of their last seven, Van Noord and Liberty will finish the regular season at Charleston Southern, tomorrow. Match time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
