The Liberty men's soccer team takes to the road for a Big South Conference match, Friday evening. The Flames will square off with the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs at Greene-Harbison Field. Match time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Liberty (5-7-1, 2-2 Big South) will enter Friday's contest off a 2-0 victory over Campbell at Osborne Stadium, this past Friday. Meanwhile, Gardner-Webb (3-9, 1-3 Big South) fell 2-1 at Longwood, Monday.

A Look at Liberty A strong defensive effort keyed Liberty's 2-0 victory over Campbell, this past Friday evening. Goalkeeper James Knoebel made five saves, and Kevin Mendoza and Pepe Segarra each netted goals in the win.
Forward Tresor Mbuyu enters Liberty's contest at Gardner-Webb second in the Big South and the Flames' leader in goals with eight and points with 19.
Mendoza, who scored his fifth goal of the season on Friday, is second on the Flames and tied for sixth in the conference with 14 points. The sophomore midfielder is tied for third in Big South in assists with four.
Forward Rigoberto Rogas leads Liberty and is second in the conference with five assists. He has scored or assisted in each of the Flames' last four matches.
Midfielder Jovanni Chavez and forward Martin Agredo, with three goals apiece, join Mbuyu and Mendoza as Flames with multiple goals, this season. Agredo and Chavez also have three assists each on the year.
Knoebel has started 11 matches between the goalposts for the Flames, this season. The freshman has posted a 1.59 goals-against average, a .753 save percentage and three shutouts, this season.
Head Coach Jeff Alder, a Liberty alum, is in his 16th season of leading the Flames. Liberty is 149-118-24 during his tenure.
A Look at Gardner-Webb Gardner-Webb fell to Longwood, 2-1, Monday in its last contest. The Lancers scored during the 83rd minute for the victory.
The Runnin' Bulldogs are lead in scoring by Ali Al-Gashamy. He has netted six goals and posted 14 points. He is sixth in the conference in goals and tied for sixth in points.
David Koloko and Severin Soerilie have each scored three goals apiece for Gardner-Webb. Soerile has dished out a team-high four assists.
Matthew Swan has seen the majority of the time in the Runnin' Bulldogs' goal. The senior has posted a 2.19 goals-against average.
Tony Setzer is in his 29th season at Gardner-Webb. Setzer's Runnin' Bulldogs are 195-322-35 during his tenure.
The Series Gardner-Webb and Liberty will meet for the 19th time, Friday. The Flames lead the all-time series, 10-6-2. Last season, the Runnin' Bulldogs defeated the Flames in Lynchburg, 1-0, while Liberty defeated Gardner-Webb in Boiling Springs, N.C., in 2014.
